Work done
Work done so far has been mainly a literature review and a regular contact with Water Works charity. Based on various reports and conference proceedings, as well as frequent conference calls with Water Works Director (Mr Simon Cohen) and Project Coordinator (Mr Mikael Ullero), a thorough understanding of the problem was established (click here to read Problem Statement). It was decided that the focus in this project will be on technical problems, but social aspects will also be considered. The work was planned and it was determined that it will be best to construct, test and improve two existing pumps – Abakus and Nafe pumps. The materials that will be needed to construct the pumps were researched and it was designed how the experiments will be carried out. The first tests will be run in November 2011.
